What is KanFest?

KanFest is Alberta’s premier whitewater festival, bringing paddlers of all skill levels together for a weekend of competition, education, and community-building. More than just a festival, KanFest is a not-for-profit event where all proceeds go directly to maintaining and improving the whitewater features on the Kananaskis River.

Why KanFest Matters

The Kananaskis River is a vital hub for Alberta’s paddling community. Thanks to recent rebuild efforts, the river has enhanced features for kayakers, SUP paddlers, packrafters, rafters and surfers. KanFest helps fund the ongoing maintenance and improvements, ensuring the river remains a world-class paddling destination.

• Paddling Races & Competitions – Kayak freestyle, downriver races, slalom, raft rodeo, SUP events, and more.
• Whitewater Courses – Professional instruction for all levels, from beginner to advanced.
• Community & Fun – Social events, live band on Saturday night, and a chance to connect with fellow paddlers.
